Suffolk County Council consulted on a proposal to extend the 11–16 age accommodation at Thurston Community College’s main campus from 1500 places to 1650 places. No changes are proposed to the Sixth Form campus in Beyton. The proposal is to develop the area around a single standalone Science room to create a single storey block providing an additional Science room, six classbases, a Prep Room and toilets. Additional parking to cater for the enlarged school will be provided on land to be acquired to extend the school site to the North of the current site, for which separate planning approval has already been granted.
This non-statutory pre-application planning consultation will enable us to gather the views of parents, local residents and potential building users prior to the submission of the planning application and does not affect the right to comment on the proposals during the statutory planning consultation process.
