Apply for a birth certificate

To apply for a copy of a birth certificate you'll need the following information to hand:

• details of the birth (name, date and place of birth)
• details of the parents
• your name, address and contact details
• payment information
• reason for the request and any other comments to assist with our search
• you can apply for a short or full birth certificate. 

Important note: We are only able to accept applications via this site for births which took place in Suffolk. To avoid additional cost and inconvenience please check this point carefully before proceeding.

Please also note that James Paget hospital in Gorleston is not in Suffolk – if you were born at this hospital you will need to apply directly to the Norfolk Registration Service.
