Fire at landfill site

Crews responded to reports of a fire at the Masons landfill site, off Bramford Lane in Great Blakenham.

On arrival, crews discovered a number of vehicles alight. 

Four appliances were in attendance, along with a rescue vehicle and a water carrier.

Local residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed due to thick, acrid smoke in the air. Please keep doors and windows closed until this has passed.

A stop to this incident was called at 4:00am.

The fire was extinguished by four firefighters in breathing apparatus, along with four hose reel jets and two covering jets.

A site reinspection will take place at 7:00am.
