Proposed waiting restrictions for Leiston Road, Aldeburgh

Details on the proposed waiting restrictions for Leiston Road, Aldeburgh

To address problems of access, especially by emergency vehicles and public transport vehicles if parking occurs on both sides of Leiston Road, an initial consultation into parking restrictions took place in December 2020 / January 2021.

Following this consultation, a report was presented to Aldeburgh Town Council and within this report concerns were raised regarding the reduction of car parking spaces, migration of vehicles and safety concerns, relating to vehicles mounting the footway.

Aldeburgh Town Council, undertook further consultation with the emergency services and East Suffolk Council. Following these discussions, the original proposal has been amended to reduce the number of car parking spaces effected by the proposed restrictions, allow for loading and unloading to be undertaken and reduce the number of possible footway incursions by vehicles travelling along Leiston Road.

Suffolk Highways has amended the original design to reflect this, and with the support of Aldeburgh Town Council, Suffolk County Council is proposing to introduce “No Waiting at Anytime” on Leiston Road as illustrated on the plan below.
