Proposed speed limit changes to Stone Street, Hadleigh and Union Hill, Semer

Information on the proposed speed limited changes to Stone Street, Hadleigh and Union Hill, Semer

INITIAL CONSULTATION FOR THE PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION TO STONE STREET, HADLEIGH AND UNION HILL, SEMER.

Following concerns raised by Hadleigh Town Council, Kersey and Semer Parish Councils, regarding speed and road safety issues along the A1141, to County Councillor Mick Fraser and Robert Lindsay. Both County Councillors, requested these speed limits be reassessed, to see if a reduction can be achieved.

The sites have been considered against Suffolk County Council’s Speed Limit Policy and reports submitted for approval, by the Cabinet Member of Economic Development, Transport Strategy and Waste and the Manager of Transport Policy. The recommendations set out within the reports have been approved for the speed limits to be lowered.

Suffolk County Council are therefore proposing to implement a speed limit of 30mph, on Stone Street Hadleigh, from its junction with the A1071 to the existing terminal sign, north of “Stone Street Farmhouse”, and a 40mph speed limit from this terminal sign to the junction of the B1115. This proposal will improve road safety for all users.
