Road traffic collision leads to closure of A14 westbound

Crews from Bury St Edmunds, Princes Street and Ipswich East are on scene, along with ambulance and police, to extricate the male driver of the car.

A full road closure is in place on the westbound carriageway, and police have put a rolling roadblock in place to slow traffic travelling eastbound for crew safety, while they work to remove the roof of the vehicle. 

The collision has caused damage to the central reservation. 

Heavy congestion reported on both carriageways.

The driver of the lorry has been checked by paramedics. The load being transported is secure.

The gentleman has been safely removed from the vehicle and is now in the care of the ambulance service. 

Crews still on scene to tidy up the cutting and stabilisation equipment used and make the car safe. Westbound carriageways will remain closed until this work is completed. 

Stop called at 9:39am, so no further resources are required from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.
