Fire service attends small chemical spill in Occold

The fire service was called to a drug development company in Occold, near Eye, following reports of a small chemical spill. 

Upon arrival it became clear that chemicals being stored in 5 containers outside the main building had spilled, and the chemical (Phosphine) was reacting with the rain and weather conditions to create a small amount of gas. 

Fire service advised those on site to remain 100m back from the spill location as they inspected and made sure the area was safe. 

Police and ambulance colleagues have been informed (Police Reference 195 - Ambulance Reference 2747).

A stop to the incident was called at 6:13pm
