Flat fire in Ipswich

Three fire appliances were sent to a fire in a basement flat in Ipswich.

Two engines from Princes Street and one from Ipswich East were sent to the scene in Withipoll Street after the alarm was raised by a neighbour.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus used one hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.

All persons in the property were accounted for and a stop notice was issued at 2.26am.

The incident remains open however as an investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted in daylight hours.
