A14 reopened following single vehicle road traffic collision

The driver of a heavy goods vehicle that had gone through the central barrier and come to rest on its side across the west and eastbound carriageways is now in the care of the ambulance service (ref: 366).

Firefighters from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket assisted the single, male occupant exit the cab via the windscreen.

One fire engine and one rescue tender (a fire engine carrying enhanced rescue equipment) were mobilised from each station. 

The road was closed by police in both directions to allow rescue and recovery but is now fully reopened. 

A stop was called at 4:09am and the incident was closed at 6:22am.
