The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to ensure the safety of guests whilst on their premises.
To achieve this, the legislation requires that any fire safety facilities (including those provided under Building Regulations, The Housing Act 2004 or other local acts) and fire safety equipment/devices are subject to a system of maintenance. They should be maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.
In order to demonstrate compliance with the legislation, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service provide a maintenance log book for the responsible person to use to record tests and maintenance of fire safety facilities.
