Government grants for electric vehicles

The chargepoint grant provides electric vehicle (EV) drivers who are renters or own a flat with support towards the costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points.

You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, up to a maximum of £350.

You can apply for this grant if you either:

• Own and live in a flat OR
• Rent any residential property (this includes properties under the shared ownership scheme).
• You must own an eligible vehicle and your home must have its own private off-street parking space.

Closing date: 11:59pm on 31 March 2027

The electric car grant allows you to get a discount of up to £3,750 when you upgrade or switch to a new electric vehicle. For manufacturers, eligibility will rely on sustainability standards. Discounts will be available at the point of purchase, on certain vehicles priced up to or under £37,000. You can find out which vehicles are eligible at plug-in grant: Overview - GOV.UK.
