The Centre of Excellence will be delivered via the hosting of a series of training seminars and a face-to-face conference on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). These events are open and free to attend for district and county council representatives.
Suffolk County Council was recognised by the Government last year for its knowledge and expertise when engaging with NSIPs such as Sizewell C, Lowestoft’s Gull Wing, National Grid upgrades, and offshore wind farms.

On Wednesday 8 May 2024, Suffolk County Council, in association with EELGA, held its second annual NSIP Centre of Excellence Conference at the Apex, Bury St Edmunds.
Speakers at the event included Josh Wainman and Anna Payne from the Development for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities who presented on emerging NSIP reform, Tom McGarry from National Grid on The Great Grid Upgrade and Professor John Glasson from Oxford Brookes University, who discussed the effectiveness of NSIP Environmental Impact Assessments in practice.
