All enquiries must be accompanied by a plan with the property outlined in red along with an address or description of the land. We will not provide highway information over the telephone.

A1 - Plan showing considered extent of highway and adopted roads that are maintainable at public expense; if records are available

A1 - If the information is not on record, our Highway Records team will have to carry out research to determine the considered extent.  The fee varies with length of highway frontage required.  Please note, that it could take anything between 3 to 8 weeks for enquiries requiring research, depending on the amount of research required and resources available.  £102 minimum fee is charged, £108 from April 2024

 Suffolk County Council can provide a copy of the register for a particular Commons Land or Village Green unit. However, we require the unit number in order to process the request.  If the unit number is not known, you can make an appropriate search using CON 29 (Optional) Enquiries form (fee as above). A search will identify if a specified plot of land is part of or adjacent to one of the registered units.  £6

Register of Common Land and Town or Village Greens

Should you wish to inspect the register in person, this can be done by prior appointment (and with 48 hours minimum notice). No fee is charged for a personal inspection and these can be carried out between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Email or telephone us: 01473 264190
