Wilford Bridge Road, Melton – Formal consultation of proposed speed limit change

Details on the formal consultation of proposed speed limit change

Following concerns raised by Melton Parish Council, regarding road safety issues along Wilford Bridge Road, Melton, a speed limit report has been prepared by Suffolk County Council’s Safety and Speed Management team. The report recommends that the speed limit be lowered to 30mph, which is supported by both County Councillor Alexander Nicoll and County Councillor Andrew Reid.

The consultation period has been extended to 6 March 2024. All responses will be considered prior to making the final decision.

Suffolk County Council are therefore proposing to implement a speed limit of 30mph, between the existing 30mph terminal sign on Wilford Bridge Road, close to the level crossing to its junction with Stutton Road (B1083) and Orford Road (A1152). This proposal will improve road safety for all users.

Objections or any other representations related to the proposal, specifying the grounds on which they are made, must reach Alicia Webster at alicia.webster@suffolk.gov.uk or at the address below, not later than 6 March 2024. Please bear in mind that any such correspondence cannot be regarded as confidential and may be inspected by any interested party.
