Proposed Speed limit changes - Saxtead Green, Saxtead

Information on the proposed speed limit changes along Saxtead Green, Saxtead

INITIAL CONSULTATION FOR THE PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION IN SAXTEAD GREEN, SAXTEAD.

Following concerns raised by Saxtead Parish Council, regarding speed and road safety issues along the A1120 Several Road, B1119 The Green and C545 Marlborough Road, to County Councillor Stephen Burroughes. County Councillor Burroughes requested the speed limits be reassessed, to see if a reduction could be supported.

The sites have been considered against Suffolk County Council’s Speed Limit Policy and a report submitted for approval, by the Cabinet Member of Economic Development, Transport Strategy and Waste and the Manager of Transport Policy. The recommendation set out within the report has been approved for the speed limit to be lowered.

Suffolk County Council are therefore proposing to implement a speed limit of 30mph, from the current 30mph speed terminal sign on The Green to its junction with Several Road and on Marlborough Road, from its junction with Several Road to the northern boundary of the property known as “Red House”. A 40mph speed limit is also proposed from the northern boundary of the property known as “Treeburn” to a point approximately 200m south of its junction with The Green. This proposal will improve road safety for all users.
