Why we're using AI

We've added AI to our site search to improve the experience of finding information on our website.

We think this change will help you access services you need, as AI can respond better to:

• misspellings
• synonyms (for example, rubbish tips instead of recycling centres)
• longer questions using more words

How AI search works

When you search on suffolk.gov.uk, AI will generate a response. This appears at the top of the normal search results.

You can choose to expand this AI summary to read more, and follow-up your search with further questions.

However, if you prefer not to use AI you can simply ignore it and go to the page links. 

Limitations and constraints

The AI we use in search:

• can only summarise information from our website
• is not designed to be a customer service chatbot
• can make mistakes - please check any important information 

Your personal data and rights

Do not enter sensitive personal information into AI search, such as medical or financial details. 

Any information you enter is covered by the same privacy and data protection policies and regulations as any other information you might submit via our website, for example using a form.
