On arrival, crews found approximately 100 metres by 20 metres of bracken and undergrowth well alight around 30 yards into woodland. Firefighters used hose reel jets and beaters to tackle the blaze, while a water carrier from Newmarket was used to establish additional water supplies.
Fire engines from Brandon, Mildenhall and Thetford attended. Good progress was made throughout the incident and crews remained on scene for a further hour after the stop message to damp down hotspots and prevent reignition.
The incident was brought to a stop at 1.40pm.
