Fire affects rail services in Ipswich

A fire which spread to a railway embankment resulted in services being briefly affected. (Incident reference: 016540).

Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service was called at 12.41pm to Felixstowe Road, Ipswich, to a report of two sheds on fire.

The fire has spread to the adjacent railway embankment, impacting on rail services.

Greater Anglia rail services were disrupted for a short time, with two trains being cancelled.

Two appliances, one from Ipswich East band one from Princes Street, attended. 

The fire was brought under control using two hose reel jets and a larger covering hose reel.

A stop notice was issued at 2.28pm but we are still in attendance.
