Crews arrived following reports of a spreading field fire.

Firefighters discovered approximately 25 metres of standing barley crop and hedgerow well alight. Strong winds at the scene were hampering firefighting operations and increasing the rate of fire spread.

Additional resources were called and are working to contain the fire. Firefighters used six hose reel jets to tackle the blaze and protect surrounding land.

Specialist resources, including the Water Carrier and Operational Support Unit, were mobilised to support operations. The Environment Agency and Anglian Water were also informed.

Firefighters have now brought a large field fire on Park Road, Wetherden under control.

At its height, the incident involved approximately 25 metres of barley crop and hedgerow, as well as a combine harvester.

Six fire engines and a number of specialist resources attended the incident. Crews used eight hose reel jets and a hydrant water supply to extinguish the blaze and prevent further spread.

Firefighters successfully surrounded the fire and secured a water supply, with the combine harvester fully extinguished before the incident was stopped.
