Field fire in East Bergholt

Crews are on site after reports of a large field fire on Putticks Lane, East Bergholt.

A call was received at 6:48pm to report a fire in a stubble field which is spreading fast. Approximately 80 hectares of cut straw, trees and hedgerow are well alight.

At the peak of the incident that were 14 appliances from Ipswich East, Ipswich Princes Street, Holbrook, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Nayland, Long Melford, Haverhill, Debenham, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell and Ixworth in attendance.

Please be aware there is currently a road closure in place from Heath Road to Mill Road.

Residents are advises to close windows and doors.

Good progress has been made in tackling the fire, which is now under control.

Crews will remain on site to manage the incident and continue dampening down
