Caravan fire in Lakenheath

Firefighters from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service attended alongside colleagues from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and USAF Mildenhall Fire Department.

On arrival, crews found a static caravan, outbuildings, fencing and nearby vegetation well alight. Firefighters used hose reels, jets and water supplies from a USAF bowser to tackle the fire and prevent it spreading further.

Two casualties were treated by the East of England Ambulance Service at the scene.

Police and UK Power Networks also attended due to the presence of overhead power lines and need for road closures.

The incident remains ongoing and crews continue to work to extinguish hotspots and make the area safe.
