White Elm Solar Farm

A proposed 675-acre solar farm, with Battery Storage, that would have a design capacity of over 50 MW, located 7.5 kilometres to the north of Stowmarket.

The scheme is proposed to be located within the three parishes of Mendlesham, Wickham Skeith and Thwaite in Mid Suffolk. A soft launch for the scheme has taken place, and information setting out preliminary timelines for pre-application activities, including Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping, non-statutory and statutory consultation, which has been published by the promoter and the Planning Inspectorate.

Suffolk County Council letter to parishes about White Elm Solar Farm

Cllr Richard Rout has written a letter to Parish Councils, setting out the information available to help them engage with the project promoter, and emphasising the need to engage on matters of detail from the very outset of the consultation, because of the rapid pace at which the project is being brought forward.
