This project is designed to improve water supply in the east of England, which on average, receives a third less rain-fall than the rest of England. The project is already underway, and is creating hundreds of kilometres of new, large-scale, water pipelines.

In addition to the Strategic Pipeline Project, Anglian Water are also proposing to build a pipeline from Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire to Rede in West Suffolk, where it will connect to the Strategic Pipeline, this project will be delivered in two parts, beginning with the Grafham to Cambridge section.
