It’s part of a public health campaign endorsed by Suffolk County Council to encourage regular testing, support early diagnosis and make sexual health services easier to access.

The campaign highlights the ongoing availability of free home‑testing kits through freetesting.hiv, an NHS‑commissioned service. Kits are available to Suffolk residents aged 16 and over.

Residents can order a kit online, which arrives in plain, unbranded packaging. The test involves a small finger‑prick blood sample taken at home and returned by post. Results are usually available within three working days of the sample reaching the laboratory. The same sample tests for both HIV and syphilis.

The service is free, confidential and does not require a GP appointment or clinic visit.

Cllr June Mummery, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for coastal affairs, communities and public health, said:

“Making it as easy as possible for people to access health services is important. At-home testing provides a simple, confidential and convenient way for people to check their sexual health in a setting that suits them.”

The free test kits can be ordered at https://freetesting.hiv.
