Families invited to get moving at Suffolk in Motion travel experience day

Suffolk in Motion will be held on Saturday 10 October, from 10am to 3pm, at the London Road (Copdock) Park and Ride, offering visitors the chance to explore a range of transport options available across the county.

Delivered by Suffolk County Council in partnership with Believ and Urban Fox, the event will showcase sustainable and affordable ways to travel, helping people to make informed choices about how they get around Suffolk.

The day will feature a range of interactive activities and displays for all ages, including:

• Balance bikes for younger children
• A stamp trail around the event
• Pedal-powered Scalextric racing
• Pre-bookable bike health checks with the Bike Doctor
• Information about local walking groups and wellbeing walks
• Test drives and displays of new and used electric vehicles (EVs)
• Opportunities to try out e-bikes
• Advice from local EV owners on charging, running costs and ownership
• Information on local pay-as-you-go electric car clubs

Everyone attending will also be entered into a free draw, with many prizes including a signed Ipswich Town FC shirt and an afternoon tea for two.

Councillor Morgan Brobyn, Suffolk County Council's Cabinet Member for Food, Waste and Rural Affairs, said:

"Getting around Suffolk is something we all do every day, but many people might not realise the options available to them.

"I think one of the best things about Suffolk in Motion is that it isn't about telling people how they should travel. It's about giving residents the chance to explore what's available and decide what works best for them.

"I invite families to come along, have some fun and try things out for themselves. You can chat to people who already use electric vehicles, have a go on an e-bike, get your bike checked over, or simply pick up ideas that could make getting around a little easier or cheaper.

"There's plenty for everyone, so whether you're curious about a different way to travel or just looking for a good day out, come along, have a chat with the experts, and maybe even discover an option you hadn't considered before."

With transport playing a vital role in everyday life, Suffolk in Motion aims to help residents explore options that could save money, improve wellbeing and support a variety of travel choices.
