Designated Teacher Award: Championing Children with Care Experience

This is a fully online postgraduate continuing professional development programme, is open to anyone interested in exploring and deepening their understanding of how to support children and young people with care experience, whether you're in education, social care, health, or simply passionate about making a difference.

Developed through the collaboration between the University of Suffolk and Suffolk County Council’s Virtual School and Psychology and Therapeutic Services.

  • 15 credits at Level 7
  • The Designated Teacher: understand the responsibilities and impact of this pivotal role
  • Attachment awareness: explore how attachment theory informs practice
  • Trauma-informed practice: learn strategies to support recovery and resilience
  • Person-centred planning: champion individual strengths and aspirations
  • Full tutor support: you will be guided throughout by experienced university tutors.
