Nautilus

Nautilus is a 1.4GW Multi-Purpose Interconnector (MPI) which will create an electricity link between the UK and Belgium.

The link will also connect to offshore wind generation in the North Sea.

The project would involve the construction of a converter station in each country and the installation of offshore and onshore underground direct current cables (HVDC) between each converter station and underground alternating current cables (HVAC) between the converter station and substation in each country.

As of March 2023, National Grid Ventures are considering whether the scheme will connect at the Suffolk coast or on the Isle of Grain in Kent.
