Crews from Princes Street were mobilised to rescue the sole occupant of a BMW X5 that had become stuck in floodwater when the driver attempted to drive through it.
At the time of the call, floodwater was three quarters of the way up the wheels of the vehicle. The electrical system was still working, so our control operator advised the lady to move her seat as far back as it could go, in case of accidental activation of the driver's airbag.
Upon arrival, firefighters used a rescue sled to extricate the driver from her vehicle. It was also necessary to rescue another driver from a second vehicle that had entered the floodwater after the initial call to control had been made.
Suffolk Police were contacted to close the road.
This incident was stopped at 2:44pm and closed at 3:44pm.
