Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke from the property.
The occupier was safely out of the building before crews arrived. Police assisted by closing the road during the incident.
Fire crews carried out home fire safety visits at five neighbouring properties. Details of the white goods involved have been passed to Trading Standards.
A stop to this incident was called at 5.11pm.
