Single vehicle RTC on A14 - fatality confirmed.

The A14 between junctions 58 and 59 was closed overnight in both directions following an HGV RTC (incident reference: 017143)

A man in his sixties has sadly died following a single vehicle RTC yesterday evening. 

Six fire engines were mobilised to the incident that occurred at around 7pm on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 near Kirton and Trimley. 

Crews worked with other emergency workers to free the casualty, who was deceased upon arrival.

The vehicle, an HGV carrying frozen food, had crashed through the central reservation. 

Both lanes on both the east and westbound carriageways were closed to allow the driver and vehicle to be recovered. Both carriageways remained closed overnight and into this morning. The westbound carriageway was fully reopened at 7:45am and one lane of the eastbound carriageway followed at around 9:30am. 

The incident was stopped at 8:30pm yesterday and closed at 3:04am the following morning (14th January).
