Rescue from depth emergency

Fire crews were called to reports of a man who had fallen into a cess pit at a property earlier today.

On arrival, firefighters carried out a rescue from depth operation using specialist equipment to safely extricate the individual. Once brought to the surface, crews provided initial first aid as the casualty was showing signs of hypothermia.

The individual was then left in the care of ambulance colleagues (reference 1355) for further assessment and treatment.

A stop was called at 11:27 indicating no further resources were required on scene.
