Horse carrier overturned and on its side

Crews from Princes Street, Needham Market and Reydon & Southwold are on scene at an RTC involving a horse carrier, which has overturned and is on its side in the middle of the road. 

Firefighters are working with the police (ref: 159) to make the scene safe, while the emergency vet is en route. 

Ambulance service also present (ref: 2144) but no people are trapped. 

Due to there being a requirement for a large animal rescue, crews from Princes Street have attended with an all-terrain Unimog and an enhanced rescue tender, which is a standard fire engine equipped with additional, advanced rescue equipment. 

Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds. 

Update (4:20pm)

Emergency vet now on scene (arrived 4:09pm). 

Update (5.15pm)

A second horse box is now on scene so that the horse, which has been sedated, can be transferred to it once extricated. Firefighters are using cutting equipment to gain access via the vehicle's roof. 

Update (5:25pm)

Incident stopped at 5:10pm when the horse and two dogs were released from the vehicle and handed to their owners.
