Fire crews were called to a serious building fire on the High Street, Lakenheath, at 11.20pm following multiple emergency calls reporting a property well alight.

On arrival, firefighters found a single-storey commercial building (approximately 20m x 20m) fully involved in fire. Due to roof collapse, the structure became unsafe and an exclusion zone was established. Firefighting operations were carried out externally.

Crews operated multiple hose lines to bring the fire under control and remained on scene overnight to monitor and hotspot.

A multi-agency response was requested, including ambulance and police (ref. 370). One male casualty was rescued and is now in the care of the ambulance service (ref. 4176). Police assisted with road closures, which were scaled back during the early hours of the morning.

This incident stopped needing any further resource at around 2.55am.
