Chip shop fire in Honington

Crews from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and a single crew from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service attend (incident reference: 017577).

A call came into our control at 6.28pm, which led to appliances from Ixworth, Brandon, Princes Street and Bury St Edmunds being mobilised. Our crews were supported by a single crewed appliance from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire took hold in a fryer and travelled upwards into the roof space.

No one was injured - upon arrival, all occupants had already evacuated the building.  

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one covering jet, dry powder and two foam extinguishers to tackle the blaze. Positive pressure ventilation was also used as was a thermal imaging camera to check for remaining hot spotting.

The incident was stopped at 8.41pm but is yet to be closed because a reinspection is due to take place this morning. 

Update (23.1.26 10.23am)

A crew from Bury St Edmunds reinspected the property at around 8.30am and once again checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. None were found.
