Children's slide destroyed in park fire

A slide in a children's play area in Chantry Park, Ipswich was destroyed after being deliberately set on fire.

Firefighters were called just after 8pm on the evening of Tuesday December 2. Two engines from Princes Street and one from Ipswich East were deployed.

On arrival firefighters found the slide and part of the play surface on fire. They used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

Evidence of an unknown accelerant was found and police were notified. There is a police number of 355 for this incident.

There were no casualties, and a Stop notice was issued at 8.28pm.
