Our new fire service incidents page

We've created a new way for you to find incident information.

On Friday 3 October 2025 we launched our new fire service incidents page.

This replaces our old incidents map page, and shows a selection of significant fire incidents in Suffolk.

About the new page

The new page includes details such as the incident:

  • type, for example fire, rescue or road traffic collision
  • location
  • date and time
  • attending stations
  • status (ongoing or closed)

We've also added different ways for you to find the incident information you need, such as:

  • search box
  • date picker
  • filters for incident type and attending stations

The page is formatted using rows and columns of cards. If you click or tap on a card, you'll be able to see more information about the incident. This may include images or related fire information, for example recruitment or fire safety campaign content.

How we designed the new page

The new fire service incident page was designed based on research. This included:

  • over 400 user feedback comments about the previous incident page
  • more than 200 survey responses looking at what people needed from the new page
  • testing and feedback about the new page as we designed it

We learned a lot from this research, such as the:

  • importance of an accessible, mobile-responsive design
  • need for more details and information about each incident
  • tools and features that would help people use the page

Importantly, there was not a strong need for fire incident details to be presented on an interactive map (which is hard to make accessible).

Could this not be replaced by a list? The map is not necessarily important.
Website feedback

As a result, we focused on creating a simple, scannable card-based design. This approach is used by several other fire services.

Thank you to everyone who submitted user feedback or took part in our user survey and testing.

Give us your feedback

Our aim is to continually improve the new fire incidents page. You can help us by giving your feedback. If you tell us what you think, you can help us improve this page for everyone.

You can submit feedback at the bottom of every page on suffolk.gov.uk - simply scroll down and select the "How can we improve this page" button.
