Carriageway Resurfacing Parking Enforcement

Towing away vehicles will only ever be used as a last resort when we have made every effort to contact the vehicle owner, but the vehicle has still not been moved. 

Unfortunately, parked vehicles can prevent us from carrying out essential repairs or improvements to roads in Suffolk.

This is frustrating for the local community, who would like improved roads. It can also cost up to £15,000 in abortive costs due to labour and materials already being purchased.

Yes, we have agreed this arrangement with the relevant parking enforcement authorities.

A District Civil Enforcement Officer will issue a Fixed Penalty Charge Notice. The offending vehicle will then be photographed before being safely relocated to a nearby location, where possible, or a secure compound in Bury St Edmunds.

We will inform the Police and our Customer Contact Centre of the vehicle removal, to help answer any contact or queries from the vehicle owner.

If you believe that your vehicle has been moved by us as part of our parking enforcement measures, you can contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0345 606 6171. Lines are open from Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 4:30pm.

You can also call the Police on 101. Please do not dial 999.

The Customer Contact Centre or Police can then provide information on how to recover your vehicle. These contact details will also be provided on signage on site.

There is a cost for enforcing the removal of parked vehicles, which must be passed on to the vehicle owner.

Any vehicle which is moved to enable works to go ahead will be subject to a £70 Fixed Penalty Charge Notice (reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days).

Vehicles taken to the secure compound, due to there not being a suitable location nearby the works area to move the vehicle to, will also be subject to additional fees to recover their vehicle.

Our approved partner is highly experienced in vehicle removal and will ensure that this does not damage your vehicle in any way. We will also take photographs of your vehicle, prior to moving it, to ensure that we have an accurate record of the vehicle’s condition before its removal.
