The Audit Committee is made up of 7 elected members.
The committee advises on the adequacy and effectiveness of the council's corporate governance arrangements.
Its responsibilities includes:
The committee also has a responsibility to promote high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members and church and parent governor representatives.
It takes an overview of matters relating to probity and ethics, and advises the council on codes of conduct and good practice for members and officers, including the Whistleblowing Policy.
The committee receives the Local Government Ombudsman's Annual Review Letter and reports about comments, compliments and complaints; including summary reports about complaints made against councillors.
It also works with the Councillor Development Working Group to monitor and review member training and development.
