The Audit Committee is made up of 7 elected members.
The committee advises on the adequacy and effectiveness of the council's corporate governance arrangements.
Its responsibilities includes:
- monitoring the arrangements in place for managing risk and combating fraud and corruption
- monitoring the adequacy and effectiveness of the external and internal audit services
- approving the Annual Statement of Accounts and Annual Governance Statement
The committee also has a responsibility to promote high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members and church and parent governor representatives.
It takes an overview of matters relating to probity and ethics, and advises the council on codes of conduct and good practice for members and officers, including the Whistleblowing Policy.
The committee receives the Local Government Ombudsman's Annual Review Letter and reports about comments, compliments and complaints; including summary reports about complaints made against councillors.
It also works with the Councillor Development Working Group to monitor and review member training and development.
You're welcome to attend a meeting of the Audit Committee.
The papers and agendas for the meetings are available on our website five days before the meeting and will include venue details.
