Introduction to construction - level 2

This specially tailored course has been meticulously designed to address the specific requirements and demands of local employers.

This course is delivered by the College of West Anglia.

Who is this course for?

This skills bootcamp offers a fast-track introduction incorporating the latest construction technology, industry-standard equipment, tools and software to prepare you for modern construction environments. This will be delivered in the classroom, but the majority will be in the workshop environment.

Module 1 - Construction health and safety

  • Introduction to health and safety in construction
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safety procedures and best practices
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Accident reporting and investigation.

Module 2 - Introduction to plumbing maintenance

  • Basics of plumbing and materials
  • Basic plumbing techniques for appliances
  • Basic plumbing techniques for repairs & maintenance & emergencies
  • Including site safety for plumbing.

Module 3 - Introduction to site carpentry

  • Basics of site carpentry and materials
  • Basic site carpentry techniques for stud walling - first fix
  • Basic site carpentry techniques - second fix
  • Including site safety for carpenters.

Module 4 - Introduction to plastering

  • Basics of plastering and materials
  • Basic plastering techniques
  • Including site safety for plastering.

Who is eligible?

The programme is open to people that live or work within Norfolk or Suffolk.

You may be eligible to apply for a Skills Bootcamp if you:

  • are aged 19 or over,
  • have the right to work in the UK,
  • meet residency requirements (your provider will check this).

Companies will pay a small employer contribution.
