Rescue of pony from River Lark near Mildenhall

Fire crews attended a large animal rescue involving a pony that had become stuck in a river near the bank.

Crews successfully rescued the pony from the water into a nearby field using front assist equipment.

Once removed from the river, crews walked the pony to help keep it warm and monitored its condition while awaiting the arrival of a vet. The pony was reported to be out of immediate danger and stable at the time.

One engine was released from the incident following the successful rescue, with remaining crews staying on scene until veterinary support arrived.
