Crews have attended an incident at a farm in Kettlebaston, in which multiple farm buildings were on fire. This included a 20m x 20m brick-built building with slate roof and a number of adjoining timber sheds and lean-tos were on fire.
Initially four engines were sent, with an additional appliance mobilised at 01:21am.
Hazards included a nearby oil tank, live power and a gas cylinder, which was reported to be in one of the buildings. A further concern was the farmhouse, which was close to the blaze.
Firefighters used ladders, two 45m jets and three hose reels to fight the fire, which was sectorised to enable crews to surround it more easily and fight it in smaller sections. Additional water was obtained from a fire hydrant in a nearby road.
At 3am, the crew from Bury St Edmunds was released from the incident. The fire was extinguished at 04:50am and a stop was called.
At 06:23 the incident was scaled back to just one crew (from Princes Street).
At 07:02 hotspotting and damping down was concluded.
The site is due to be reinspected today at around 10am.
No casualties were reported, and the farmhouse was not affected.
UPDATE:
A crew from Princes Street has been on scene since 11:20 this morning and has continued to dampen down, using a thermal imaging camera to identify hot spots.
The incident was closed at 12:13pm, with the most probable cause of the fire reported as electrical.
