LGV RTC due to icy conditions - single vehicle involved.

Crews from Haverhill and Newmarket are currently on scene at a single-vehicle RTC. Due to the incident occurring so close to the Cambridgeshire border, a single crew from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is providing assistance.

The sole occupant, a male driver, is mechanically trapped by the dashboard, so crews are working to free him.

The vehicle is unsteady, creating an additional challenge for emergency teams. 

A ground ambulance and the air ambulance are also on scene, and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) has been mobilised. HART is comprised of highly skilled paramedics who have been specially trained to provide medical care in complex and hazardous environments.  

There are no further details known at this time.

The driver has now been extricated from the cab of the lorry and is in the care of the ambulance service.
