Suffolk County Council has completed its review of the recommended lorry route map for the county.
The review was undertaken to reflect changes to the layout and use of the road network since the initial map was published in 2011 (with a minor update in 2017). The review was formed of two parts; a technical review and a community-led review.
The technical review looked at a range of evidence including:
The community-led review included a survey to all town and parish councils across Suffolk. Each council was invited to provide feedback on their top three priorities for lorry routing in their area. Ipswich Borough Council was engaged separately as there was no existing map for the town.
The County Council received responses from 149 local councils providing feedback on 331 sites in the county.
The feedback provided has been analysed using the data available to determine whether any changes are needed to the recommended lorry route map. Where changes have been deemed necessary, these have been reflected on the updated map.
Where changes to map have not been deemed necessary, the County Council has explored alternative options to mitigate some of the concerns raised.
