Garage fire in Sudbury

Firefighters were called to multiple reports of a fire in a garage connected to a bungalow in Cats Lane, Sudbury. On arrival, 4 crews from Sudbury, Nayland, Long Melford and Clare found the garage, approximately 6 metres by 2 metres, well alight and containing motorbikes and fuel. No one was in the property. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to put out the fire. Due to asbestos being present in the roof, crews used specialist protection and decontamination equipment. Cadent was called due to the potential for a gas leak, leading to neighbours being evacuated as a precaution. A crew from Sudbury attended the following morning to inspect the scene.
