The Constitution

The Local Government Act 2000 requires local authorities operating executive arrangements to maintain a constitution.

Our constitution sets out:

  • how the council operates
  • how decisions are made
  • procedures followed to make sure that council decisions are efficient, transparent and accountable of local people
