Information on the formal consultation for the proposed speed limit reduction to Stone Street, Hadleigh and Union Hill, Semer. 

Following the positive response to the initial consultation undertaken between 20 March to 12 April 2024, regarding the concerns raised by Hadleigh Town Council, Kersey and Semer Parish Councils, in relation to vehicle speeds and road safety issues along the A1141. Suffolk County Council, with the support from both County Councillors Mick Fraser and Robert Lindsey propose to introduce the following measures:

A 30 mph speed limit on:

  • Stone Street (A1141), Hadleigh: in both directions from its junction with the A1071 (known as the Hadleigh Bypass) in a generally north westerly direction for a total distance of 768m.

A 40 mph speed limit on:

  • Stone Street (A1141), Hadleigh: in both directions from a point 768m northwest of its junction with the A1071 (known as the Hadleigh bypass), travelling in a north westerly, then northerly directions to its Parish Boundary with Kersey.
  • Stone Street (A1141), Kersey: in both directions from its southern Parish Boundary with Hadleigh Town Council, travelling in a northerly direction to its Northern Parish Boundary with Semer Parish Council.
  • Stone Street (A1141), Semer: in both directions from the northern Parish boundary of Kersey, travelling in a northerly direction to its junction with Overgang Road (U8419)
  • Union Hill (A1141), Semer: in both directions from its junction with Overgang Road (U8419), travelling in a north westerly direction to a point 35.00m southeast of its junction with Bildeston Road (B1115)

This Order shall revoke the provisions of the Suffolk County Council (A1141 Stone Street, Hadleigh) (40mph Speed Limit) Order dated 9 October 2007.
