Connect to Work

How we are supporting adults in Suffolk into jobs through tailored employment help under a national scheme.

Connect to Work is part of the Government's 'Get Britain Working' plan. This plan helps people find jobs. The Government wants 80% of people to have jobs by 2050. Suffolk County Council will run the programme in Suffolk.

What is Connect to Work?

In the UK, about 3 million people do not have jobs. Out of these, 1.9 million people want to work but cannot because of health issues or disabilities. Connect to Work will help up to 100,000 people with disabilities, long-term health problems, or other challenges in England and Wales find jobs.

It will connect local job, health, and skills support. It will help people get and keep jobs through a voluntary supported employment model. This model follows the Individual Placement Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) Fidelity models.

Applications for funding are now open, to receive the documentation please email the team at connecttowork@suffolk.gov.uk.

How will it be managed and delivered?

Our Adult Skills and Employment Team will manage Connect to Work in Suffolk and have the contract to run the programme. The team will work with high-quality providers to help people in Suffolk find jobs. They will choose providers through a Competitive Grant Award. These providers will either already use the IPS/ SEQF models or want to start using them.

Successful partners will get IPS/ SEQF training and will be checked to make sure they follow the models. These checks will be made by Suffolk County Council and experts from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
