Find out information about our hazardous waste collection service and what items are accepted and not accepted.

The proper disposal of hazardous household waste protects our health and environment. This guide outlines the hazardous waste items accepted and not accepted for collection by Suffolk County Council's licensed contractor, Biffa. It provides clear instructions on safely packing hazardous products like chemicals, oils, batteries, and asbestos to meet collection requirements.


Our contractor, Biffa, offers the following collection services:

  • Household hazardous waste collections within 25 working days (up to 100KG) - £53
  • Household hazardous waste collections within 10 working days (up to 100KG) - £62
  • Household cement bonded asbestos collections within 25 or 10 working days (up to 50KG) – £36 plus the relevant collection cost of £53 or £62.

If your items are over the weight stated you will incur extra charges.

The price for non-household collections will be determined when the booking is arranged.

Biffa’s opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm.

From 21 December until 3 January, opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 2pm.

Booking a hazardous waste collection

The following information details what you need to know about Biffa’s household Hazardous Waste collection service:

  • If collections are over 100kg you may be charged for additional collections.
  • The collection and disposal of the hazardous waste will be undertaken by our contractor Biffa.
  • The waste must have come from your own domestic property, and not be the result of any business, commercial or industrial activity.
  • Collection will take place after the receipt of a fully completed booking form and payment.
  • Each separate item to be collected must be listed on the booking form. Items not listed will not be taken.
  • Ensure contact and address information is entered correctly. Failure to do so could result in a delay.
  • Include any information that will help Biffa locate your address, as well as any vehicle height or weight restrictions for the area.

Before you book your cement bonded asbestos collections

The following information details what you need to know about our household cement bonded asbestos collection service.

Book a cement bonded asbestos collection

  • Up to 50kg of cement bonded asbestos per collection. If collections are over 50kg you may be charged for additional collections.
  • The collection and disposal of the cement bonded asbestos will be undertaken by our contractor Biffa.
  • The waste must have come from your own domestic property, and not be the result of any business, commercial or industrial activity.
  • Collection will take place after the receipt of a fully completed booking form and payment.
  • Each separate item to be collected must be listed on the booking form. Items not listed will not be taken.
  • Ensure contact and address information is entered correctly. Failure to do so could result in a delay.
  • Include any information that will help Biffa locate your address, as well as any vehicle height or weight restrictions for the area.

What to do if your business produces hazardous waste
