About Most Active County

Find out more about Suffolk's legacy from the London 2012 Games and how Suffolk aims to become the most active county.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was in every way the 'spectacle' that we all hoped for. It clearly demonstrated what could be achieved through the inspiration and power of sport, using it as a catalyst for positive change and inspiration both at home and abroad.

Suffolk was quick and enthusiastic to recognise the opportunity the Games presented and made significant efforts to ensure that the county benefited from the biggest sporting event in the world.

Further information about what was achieved in the county as a direct result of the Games can be found in a snapshot of Suffolk's Games (PDF, 452KB) and the more detailed report (PDF, 937KB).

Becoming the most active county

Most Active County was launched in February 2012 and is Suffolk’s key legacy programme from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The long-term ambition is for Suffolk to become the most active county in England.

Most Active County works with local and national partners to create, promote and commission physical activity opportunities that support healthy lifestyles to flourish in Suffolk. It focuses on bringing added value to the good work that many organisations across the county do to engage people in physical activity.
