How to apply for a message of congratulations from the Queen, a UK national honour or a Queen's award for voluntary service.

Messages of congratulations from the Queen

The Queen will send a message of congratulations for the following:

Wedding anniversaries

  • 60 years (Diamond)
  • 65 years
  • 70 years (Platinum) and every year thereafter


  • 100 years
  • 105 years and every year thereafter

To receive a congratulatory message from The Queen it is necessary to get an application form, either by telephoning the Anniversaries Officers at Buckingham Place on 020 7930 4832 or by writing to:

This would need to be returned to the Anniversaries Office no sooner than three weeks in advance of the celebration date.

It is possible to receive a belated message up to six months after the event.

There is no charge for this service, but you will need to provide documentary proof of the occasion.

Nomination for a UK national honour

Honours are given to people from all walks of life and sections of society who have made a difference to their community. Anyone can make a nomination by obtaining a nomination form either by telephoning the Ceremonial Secretariat on 020 7276 2777 or by writing to:

Lists of those awarded an Honour are published on New Year's Day and on The Queen's official birthday in June.

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

This annual award recognises and rewards outstanding achievements by groups in the community who:

  • regularly devote their time to helping others in the community
  • improve the quality of life and opportunity for others
  • provide an outstanding service

A group (two or more people) can be nominated if the majority of its members are volunteers and it has been operating in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, for a minimum of three years.

The Lord-Lieutenant is involved in the assessment of groups. The Awards are announced annually on 2 June (the anniversary of The Queen's Coronation).

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are highly prestigious awards for outstanding achievement by UK business in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development. The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion is awarded to individuals who encourage entrepreneurial skills and attitudes in others.

The awards are made annually by Her Majesty The Queen, and are only given for the highest levels of excellence. They are judged to a demanding level and winners receive a number of benefits and worldwide recognition.

Previous corporate winners have come from a diverse selection of business sectors and have included large and small businesses. Recipients of the individual award have been from varied social and professional backgrounds.

The closing date for entries is the last working day of September each year and the winners are announced on 21 April the following year.
